Please take some time to go over our dyno check list before you come in for tuning, or baseline pulls.

Basic check list:

-Please read the dyno waiver

-Correct octane fuel for your application.

-Sufficient fuel (in most cases over 1/2 tank)

-Check engine for any type of leaks; fuel, oil, coolant or vacuum. If there are any type of fluid leaks there will be a dyno cleanup fee up to $20.

-No check engine codes, this will cause us to spend more time to diagnose the issue which in turn will cost more shop time. If you need your check engine light diagnose we can do that at an additional cost

-Must have a 02 sensor bung in the correct placement of the exhaust (if you do not have one install we will install one for $50)

-Everything must be bolted down and secured on your vehicle.

-The exhaust must be in place and be in good shape, if there is an exhaust leak we may not be able to tune the car.

-IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITYto make sure your car is in good running order before your appointment. We are not responsible for any type of engine failure. If you are unsure of your engine please ask for a leak down and/or compression test before hand.

Specific check list-

We try to make our customer's dyno tune experience go as smoothly as possible. Tuning is more than just putting the car on the Dyno and making pulls. The Owner of VIP Performance, Wryann VanRiper, has been tuning fuel injected cars for over 10 years and has built numerous NA, turbo & full race engines. We are committed to making every customer that walks into the shop as knowledgeable as possible about the needs of their modified car. Included with the tune of your vehicle comes years of hands on experience and the knowledge that comes with it.

At VIP Performance we look at the large picture. The word "tune" means having a very healthy running motor. This goes from have the correct air/fuel ratio down to changing your fluids on a regular basis. Maintenance is plays a VITAL role on your tune. We always recommend having a full inspection done on your vehicle before any type of tune happens. This way any type of overlooked issue will be immediately addressed.

Basic knowledge-

There are need 4 basic things to make an internal combustion engine run.

#1. air
#2. fuel
#3. spark
#4. compression

A standard automobile engine has 4 cylindrical strokes. The 4 different strokes to make the engine run are as follows; intake stroke, compression stroke, power stroke, exhaust stroke, then repeat. VIP Performance dyno tuning is about optimizing these basic engine functions. We only make adjustments that are physically possible with the engine.

Maintenance-

Car Maintenance includes inspecting, testing, servicing, replacing and repairing any part of the vehicle necessary for the performance.  Keeping the car's maintenance up to date is a major part of owning a “tuned” car. Here is a basic and simple check list for you to review.

-Air filter
-Fuel filter
-Spark plugs
-Spark plug wires
-Distributor cap & rotor
-PCV valve
-Regular fluid changes (oil, power steering, and coolant)
-Check with your manufacture service guide

Fuel-

Your car's fuel system plays a vital role in making your engine run, reach good power numbers, and last. There are several parts your car's fuel system. The fuel filter is the number one most over looked components on a modified car. If the filter has never been replaced or you don't remember when, then you need to replace it. We recommend replacing the fuel filter every two years or 50,000 miles. Always goto the same gas station if possible, if not run  same company's fuel. We recommend gas from a well known company such as 76, shell or chevron. For any Oregon resident, watch that gas station attendant! That person pumping your gas doesn't know if you need 87, 89 or 92 octane fuel. His job is to make sure you get gas in your tank. He will not know the difference between the  octanes as that is not part of his job description. We are all busy people in life but ALWAYS make sure your getting the correct octane! if they put 87 in but you need 92 octane you WILL have big problems! if necessary we do sell 92 oct and E85 only stickers. It’s a cheap and easy way to make sure you always getting the correct fuel type.

Ignition-

Ignition is just as important as fuel. A faulty ignition system from a plug, wire or distributor can damage the engine in seconds. If you have any problems with ignition on the dyno all tuning will stop! We will address the problem immediately before continuing.

Compression-

Your engine must have good compression to be tuned by VIP Performance. Tuning an engine with compression problems is a waste of time and money. Its always best to address the problem before tuning. VIP Performance will perform a compression test if a full vehicle inspection is done before to your tune.
